Huffington Post Arabic
Dear Editors:
On November 29, the Arabic version of The Huffington Post, HuffPost Arabi, published an anti-Semitic blog that promotes a preposterous claim of a Jewish responsibility for the death of Islam’s prophet, Mohammed which parallels the Jewish deicide. We decried the article from our @ADLArabi Twitter account as poisoned with religious bigotry.
The article, “‘Arsenic’ The…
December 28, 2016 Google deserves praise for taking steps to prioritize authoritative information sources in search results. Last week, the company released a statement saying that, “when non-authoritative information ranks too high in our search results, we develop scalable, automated approaches to fix the problems, rather than manually removing these one-by-one.”
As a leading company in the online and technology field, Google has been the target of individuals and groups…

As 2016 draws to a close, the Anti-Defamation League is counting down the major milestones we accomplished this year in the fight against hate. Here’s a look at some highlights of our work this year – bringing us that much closer to our goal of achieving a world without hate.

As 2016 draws to a close, the Anti-Defamation League is counting down the major milestones we accomplished this year in the fight against hate.
In the aftermath of the 2016 presidential campaign, we witnessed a series of disturbing hate crimes targeting Jews, African-Americans, Muslims, members of the LGBTQ community and others following Election Day. This, as white supremacists and those…
December 01, 2016 There has been a lot of debate lately about whether media outlets should use the term “alt right.” Some argue that the term whitewashes or normalizes a grouping that is, at its core, racist and anti-Semitic. The problem is not so much with the term “alt right” but in how people define or not define it. It is crucial that whenever the term “alt right” is used, it be defined clearly and put in the proper context.
The…

As Director of the Anti-Defamation League’s Center on Extremism, it’s my job to be aware of how anti-Semitism is promoted, exploited and embraced on the fringes of society. It’s also my job to try to keep that hatred on the fringes, where it belongs.
Thanks in part to the work of the ADL, Jews in the United States are no longer openly discriminated against or excluded from universities, hotels, resorts or social clubs. Today…
November 18, 2016 “The American Jewish community has not seen this level of anti-Semitism in mainstream political and public discourse since the 1930s. Sadly, it is only being matched with escalating levels of hate against other minorities, too, including Latinos, the disabled, Muslims, African Americans and the LGBT community. … The sum of these signs? People are afraid.”
—Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO

Bringing Together Thought Leaders to Tackle Anti-Semitism From All Angles
Note: The following are opening remarks by ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt at the Anti-Defamation League’s “Never Is Now” Summit on Anti-Semitism, which is taking place on November 17, 2016 in New York City.
Thank you for that kind introduction, and thank you all for coming here today for ADL’s inaugural Summit on Anti-Semitism, Never is Now.
Let me start by thanking the…
by: Mark Onofrio November 16, 2016 We gathered experts from across the world, across industries and age groups, to discuss urgent problems facing the Jewish community—and to suggest innovative solutions.
We'll be posting meeting highlights to the blog shortly.
June 22, 2016 ADL continues to receive a troubling number of complaints about children, adolescents and teenagers engaging in anti-Semitic behavior, both on and off school grounds. These incidents include physical assaults, threats of violence, and verbal and written taunts promoting anti-Semitic stereotypes or evoking disturbing Holocaust themes. The following is a list of selected incidents in 2015 that represent anti-Semitic bullying of children, adolescents and teenagers by their…
June 22, 2016 ADL witnessed an explosion of hate online, especially on social media platforms in 2015. While the audit includes incidents of online anti-Semitism reported to ADL in which an individual or institution is explicitly targeted, it does not count general anti-Semitic expressions online. ADL has been monitoring the recent spike on such harassment, which seems to have corresponded to the political season, with a large amount of this vitriol directed at journalists and other public…
by: Oren Segal | September 29, 2016 The Guardian Pepe the Frog originated as an innocuous cartoon character in 2005. This week, he was added to the Anti-Defamation League’s Center database of hate symbols. At first glance, it may seem more than a little strange that the image of a cartoon frog could end up alongside such infamous symbols as the Blood Drop Cross of the Ku Klux Klan. But the evolution of Pepe the Frog actually illustrates a key aspect of hate symbols:…
by: Marilyn Mayo September 09, 2016 Fifteen years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, DC, anti-Semites continue to spread conspiracy theories blaming Jews and Israel for the events of that day. Anti-Semites Christopher Bollyn, Ken O’Keefe, and Kevin Barrett are three such conspiracy theorists who spread the theory that 9/11 was a “false flag” operation by Israel and the Jews to control world events and create wars for their benefit.
Christopher…
by: Marilyn Mayo | September 08, 2016 The Forward It’s not often that I get an opportunity to come face-to-face with one of the extremists whose activities, in my work as a research fellow at the Anti-Defamation League, I am charged with following and exposing. But on Wednesday night it happened that one of the most ardent spokespeople for anti-Semitic 9/11 conspiracy theories was appearing in New York City, my hometown.
It was tempting to ignore that Christopher Bollyn was speaking…
by: Jessica Reaves September 07, 2016 Jimmy Marr, a well-known neo-Nazi activist in Oregon, has taken to the highways to promote his anti-Semitic, white supremacist agenda. On July 17, 2016, Marr posted photographs on VNN Forum, a prominent neo-Nazi/ white supremacist social media site, showing off a truck adorned signs reading “Jew Lies Matter” and “Truth Dispels Darkness,” accompanied by a swastika. Marr recently began pairing this message with a “Blue Lives…

September 02, 2016 Rumor: Forever 21 is selling "Swastika rings." Status: FALSE
What happened?
A rumor spread on Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites and making the rounds via e-mail suggests the clothing retailer Forever 21 was selling "swatika rings." The social media posts included a photograph showing the purported swastika rings for sale on the shelf in the store.
ADL and independent internet hoax sites such as Snopes have verified that the image of the swastika…

Court proceedings have indicated that Arizona resident Mahin Khan, arrested on July 1 for allegedly plotting to bomb a DMV on behalf of ISIS and the Pakistani Taliban, had considered directing his attack against a local Jewish Community Center (JCC) before choosing the DMV as his final target. His planning, as well as anti-Semitic statements he made, serve as a critical reminder of the nexus between anti-Semitism and Islamic extremism.
Khan had allegedly…
by: Oren Segal July 14, 2016 The leaders of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP), the largest organized anti-Semitic and racist Black militant group in America, will be in Cleveland July 14-17 ahead of the Republican convention, where they will likely inflame the already tense situation following the fatal shootings of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota and the killing of five police officers in Dallas. …
